Sclerotia

Sclerotia, which is the plural or the singular sclerotium, is a compact piece of mycelium that has hardened over time. It typically contains food reserves, and sclerotia are incredibly durable, able to stand up to adverse environmental conditions. In some situations, sclerotia can detach from the rest of the plant and go dormant until more favorable environmental conditions arise. The sclerotium of the magic mushroom psilocybin is a psychoactive mycelium. Even though this specific sclerotium contains a lower level of psilocybin when compared to the rest of the mushroom, it can still lead to a short, powerful trip. Some of the most common effects associated with this mycelium include sensory changes, mystical experiences, and a transcendental, spiritual experience.
